New or used, no one can argue that cars represent a significant investment. Adding an underseat car DVD player can be an excellent way to add value to your vehicle, both in terms of hard resale value and in terms of the added enjoyment you get from your car.

Of the several options available for in-car DVD players, underseat car DVD players are one of the least intrusive for the look of the vehicle interior, and for the convenience of the passengers using it. Installation is also generally minimal for underseat systems and doesn’t complicate your dashboard with another set of knobs and buttons. Another added benefit is with the player being concealed under the seat, it is also out of visual site for would be thieves.

Underseat car DVD player systems also put the power in the hands of the people actually watching allowing them to change out discs and navigate intuitive menus through an on screen display without disrupting the driver or front-seat passenger. Even the least expensive models include remote controls, which are really ideal for larger vehicles or a parent traveling alone with the kids.

Underseat Car DVD PLayer

This isn’t to say that parents don’t have a say in what happens with these devices. Parents should look out for systems that won’t play movies over a certain rating. Most players come equipped with multimedia playback, anti shock floating suspension, USB ports and much more. Newer models are now being built to support satellite radio capability. Also, many systems support 5 channel surround sound and Dolby Digital Sound. Some DVD systems feature TV tuners and MP3 capability. Be sure the system you choose supports progressive scan playback for better picture quality.

Most underseat car DVD player systems range between about $90-$500, there are systems available to fit almost any budget. Use caution in selecting a system as many to do not include an LCD screen. If you’re looking to install a new system from the ground up, make sure you know what you’re buying. This is where the ease of online shopping can actually work against you if you’re too hasty or eager to take advantage of what seems like a low price.

While most videophiles are looking for perfection in underseat car dvd players, you may want to consult technology review sites and customer feedback. A few minutes of research online could save you weeks of headaches buying the wrong system and hassling with returns

A dual screen car DVD player is an essential entertainment tool for any parent who wishes to enjoy a quiet ride home or while traveling to a vacation destination. Simply pop in a kid-friendly movie and enjoy the peaceful drive. The dual screen aspect allows all backseat passengers a full view of the movie. Many dual screen car DVD players are equipped with headphones, so the peaceful ride does not have to be drowned out by Cinderella’s singing mice.

Dual screen DVD players are so versatile that they fit any need. Most players feature the ability to play DVDs, CDs, MP3s, pictures and even watch TV, if equipped with a TV tuner. Some also have iPod, MP3 player, and video game console hookups.

Dual Screen Car DVD Player

Player Installation
There are, essentially, two options when selecting the player. An in-dash DVD player allows users to replace their current CD player with the DVD player and comes with an in-dash screen. When using the remote, this allows users to pop in the DVD like a CD, and play the movie with the touch of a button. A second option is to install a small dvd player specifically made to go under one of the car seats. This type of player often times is very affordable and also provides for the player to be placed in an area that is not as intrusive on the passengers.

Screen Installation
The two additional screens install on the back of the driver and passenger’s headrests. In fact, the headrest is typically replaced with a headrest that has the screen already built in. If the semi-permanent installation does not sound appealing, users can purchase a dual screen DVD player that is more portable. With this type of screen, Velcro straps are needed in order to attach it to the back of the headrest. The most common screen sizes are 7 inches.

Whatever the purpose, a dual screen DVD player helps bring entertainment on the road. Prices start around $100, and can vary in price depending on brand name, equipment accessories, and DVD quality. Before purchasing any dual screen player, users should determine their unique needs to avoid wasting money on a player that fails to meet their demands or one that requires the purchase of additional equipment just to utilize certain features. For most active families, though, the dual screen DVD player is a great option, just remember to pack enough DVDs!

Do you remember tape decks? Do you also remember when tape decks gave way to CD players long ago? Leap forward to today and now a mere CD isn’t enough to keep up with entertainment technology. The practice of having an in-dash car DVD player is now on the rise, with more and more people wanting these as part of their car’s equipment.

An in-dash car DVD player can be special ordered and installed by the factory if you are purchasing a brand new car. These players take the place of the regular stereo system, and include a small screen. Due to this, they typically take over the stereo system’s function as well as playing DVDs. They will also play CDs, and have ports for both mp3 players and satellite radio. The downside is that they typically provide no way to listen to standard broadcast radio. In some areas, this is no loss, but in other places, drivers may greatly miss their city’s regular radio stations.

In-dash Car DVD Player

An after-market DVD player is installed after the car has been bought by a car stereo retailer, and installing one usually means taking out the original stereo system or CD player.

Screen sizes vary quite a bit with most screens smaller than 7 inches. You can, however, find screens reaching this size but expect to pay more.

One may wonder how a person can drive with this massive video distraction going on. The answer is that people are not supposed to try to do that. A factory-installed in-dash player often has a safety system which prevents the DVD player from actually playing DVDs unless the car is in park. Some states also have laws which prohibit trying to drive while watching movies. Although in-dash player looks pretty cool, it is not very practical for a family trip if you wish to watch while traveling. Unless, you add additional monitors. Monitors can typically be added through composite video outputs.

For those who have use of a DVD player in the car while they’re not actively driving, for instance while on a camping trip, having an in-dash DVD player is a great way to be current on the latest technology and watch favorite movies which would otherwise be unavailable at the destination point.

Cool factor aside, the in-dash car DVD player is not very family friendly out of the box. As noted above, you will need to purchase extra monitors which will increase your cost but if that is of no concern then this player may be the one for you.

One of the best ways to pass the time when riding in a vehicle is to watch movies. This is especially true for those families with children whom travel vast distances for vacation and visiting other family members. A portable car DVD player is perfect because it is small, easy to operate, and can be installed in minutes. And, not only can kids enjoy watching movies but so can adults that are sitting in the backseat while traveling with friends or family. If you are an audio/visual enthusiast then this type of player may not be for you but if you are looking for an option to provide affordable entertainment while on the road then keep reading.

The typical portable DVD player comes with Velcro straps to connect the unit to the headrest. Also, most models are inexpensive enough so that one can connect a player to each headrest of they desire to entertain more than one child during longer car rides. Another feature is compatibility outlets for TV, mp3, game systems, CDs and radio thus providing flexibility for your home needs if need be. Additionally, not all models of the portable car DVD player are small and fit to the headrest. Some come with larger screens that fit in between the driver and passenger seat for viewing from the back of the car.

Portable Car DVD Player

Screen sizes vary but mostly range from 7” to 10” which is plenty of size for watching movies in your car.

Most people like the portability of this car DVD player versus the roof attaching, store away car DVD player. Although the player folds into the roof on the former model, they are harder to take out and install in another vehicle if you decide to sell your vehicle or simply want to use another vehicle for the upcoming trip. The portable player can be easily taken out and transferred to another vehicle. Also, the portable car DVD player is much less expensive than other car DVD players. In addition, many of the well known electronic manufacturers offer these units so one can rest assured they will operate without skipping and will last a bit longer than a generic brand players.

Although the portable car DVD player may come with a little bit of hassle when dealing with the straps and cords going the power outlets, the flexibility and inexpensive price makes this one of more affordable options for your traveling entertainment.

Overhead car DVD players have come a long way in the past two years. No longer the play toy of the “conspicuous consumption” class, the overhead car DVD player has found its niche with the soccer moms and families on the go and has been the popular choice for years. Whether across town or across the country, this simple entertainment device is a sure-fire sanity saver for mom and pop, as well as an excellent diversion for the youngsters or children-at-heart riding in the back of the SUV.

The most basic models start with an MSRP of less than $200, with units rising in price to the $1000 range, according to features, screen size and interface technologies. Check out your local audio/visual retailer or shop online for models and price points.

The concept is simple enough. The car DVD player screen unfolds similarly to an upside-down laptop. The DVD disk is inserted and a remote control similar to the home DVD/TV system is used to operate the device. Be sure to verify which type of player you are looking to purchase. Some models come with monitor only so you don’t want to have something installed that wasn’t what you wanted.

There are generally a number of options that can be added with relative ease to make the car drop down DVD player into a game console, TV receiver, wireless headphones and game controllers – basically mimicking every function that is found in a home theater unit.

Overhead Car DVD Player

Screen sizes are variable, generally sized from 7.5 inches to 15 inches – or more – depending on the amount of room available on the ceiling. The ceiling monitor car DVD player also has some manufacturers making two-screen in one housing with dual DVD controllers for those families with children widely separated in age and interests or who just can’t agree on one movie or game to play. Some screens also have the added flexibility of being able to swivel, giving the viewers a better angle in which to watch.

As with any technically-oriented purchase, it is prudent to seek out unbiased advise and be sure to have the flip down car DVD player professionally installed. A simple mistake can cost significantly more to repair than the cost of the installation and professionals have the exact tools and expertise needed to make the overhead car DVD player a stress-reliever instead of a source of worry.
